....sorta
I picked up lots of tools and parts I needed to FINALLY finish my Mandalorian armor and get it all nice and official over on the MMCC. I'll likely still have to run and get a few things here and there (velcro/strapping/etc.) but I have all the heavy hitters at last! I am now the proud owner of my very first heat gun which I intend to put to very good use (and by that I mean run the poor thing ragged with armor builds till it coughs out of existence >
). I've also ordered my first green welding visor since the tint on my self tinted t-visor is already bubbling. Gonna give this seller a shot. If it's dark enough, I'm about to throw lots 'o money at him/her. If not, well, it's back to the hunt I suppose. I'll keep y'all posted.
Also...SECRET PROJECT!!
That's right folks! The Legacy kit doesn't need that much work (not to get official anyways) and the Early Era kit is going to be a long haul (helmet and weapon have to come out OK first) so I'm doing a tiny little project in between. I've gotten almost all the parts I need to do it to. I just need Jo-ann's to get some more fabric in stock of a particular kind and some shoes of a particular kind as well.
I'll be posting updates of said project over on here now and again. Internet cookies (the good kind) to whomever can figure out what it is (and if you know me, no cheating! Yes, Emily, that means you!! XD) If all goes well for the build and with my schedule, I hope to debut it in mid February at a con me and my friend plan to attend.
Much love for all the support and patience! Sorry I've been slacking a bit but this training regiment is running me ragged XP But now that I have all the pieces ready to go hopeful that will motivate me to build, build, build!
So, without further ado, I'm going to go finish tapping together the mock up base for the Early Era helmet. Tomorrow I'll post pics of that and finally get around to cutting it out of the real stuff. I'll also be re-applying some velcro to the chest plates of the Legacy era and figuring how what (if anything) needs trimming to fix the collar plate/back plate alignment issue. Then it's off to tackle the thigh plates and, some paint and strapping repairs, a new visor installation and she should be pretty much ready to go.
Wish me luck!
